Summary of Improvements
- All design elements for this project have the overarching goal of creating a more safe and appealing intersection in an integral part of the City. The new sidewalk and curb ramps will increase accessibility by being ADA-compliant. The bulb outs will reduce lane widths of the road, making it easier and safer to cross the road in combination with the new signal and pedestrian push buttons. The reduced lane width will also help control vehicular traffic, and the new signal will ease the entire intersection into functioning smoothly. Landscaping will be incorporated into the sidewalk and bulb out design to encourage greenspace in this downtown area. Overall, this project will increase safety and accessibility for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. This project is intended to kick-off a downtown revitalization effort to create a better and safer community.
