Summary of Improvements
- The multiuse path is designed and purposed for bicycles and pedestrians and features ADA ramps at intersections. It also provides connectivity to the regions public transit system. The path lacks pedestrian lighting and pedestrian road crossing signaling. The existing lighting is at publicly owned intersections and does not provide lighting for the multiuse path;
- the intersection lighting needs to be increased to meet lighting standards. The project will illuminate the multiuse path on the south side of the Rose Street corridor and the sidewalk on the north side of Rose Street from Lambert Ave. to Carey Ct. This project has been in our Capital Facility Plan for the past six years. We have been seeking grant funding to complete the lighting and pedestrian signals along the Rose Street multiuse path so that it provides safe connections to the City of Walla Walla and public transportation. The general distance between the pedestrian lighting fixtures is eighty (80) feet. The project includes an RRFB crossing Rose Street at the intersection of Damson Ave.;
- the City of College Place is seeking grant funding through WSDOT to improve the railroad crossing at Damson Ave which includes a bus stop. The RRFB will provide improved safety for pedestrians using the multiuse path to access the bus stop. The RRFB will be constructed contingent upon receiving funds for the railroad improvements at Damson Ave. The luminaires will be similar to the existing poles and fixtures on College Ave.
Description of Improvements
