Existing ConditionsThe sidewalk along Saunders Road ends at the entrance of Pit Pond and there is not a bike lane in the City. Standard two lane road no shoulders. Several recreational facilities on the route. The City finalized and adopted a trail plan. The city is a rural, low income community, over 50% minority residents. |

Summary of Improvements
- The project will (1) promote healthy communities by encouraging walking, biking, and using public transit;
- (2) improve safety by dedicating pedestrian streetscape features;
- and (3) preserves community character by involving citizens and stakeholders to participate in planning (i.e. Parks Plan and Trails Plan).
Description of Improvements
The proposed project is to construct up to 1/2 mile of an 8 foot paved, non-motorized pathway adjacent to Saunders Road and Putter Pond with parking, pull-outs landscaping, and wayfinding.
