Two areas of river embankment have scoured with past high river levels. This dropoff is currently at edge of pavement (edge of path - which is a managed shoulder bike lane) but some parts of the pavement have fallen. Currently the path (shoulder managed lane) is closed with temporary traffic control devices. River levels flucuate with dam operations. Currently the dam gates are inoperable and may present an opportunity for the work to occur this year while river levels are low. TIB staff performed a field visit in late April, TIB does have concerns the pathway may not survive through next year and that erosion is likely to continue and threaten the roadway in future years if not managed.

Project Benefits
- Preserve and protect shared use path and roadway from Pend Oreille River embankment erosion. This effort is a temporary embankment protection project to buy time for a more perminant fix yet to be scoped.
