Existing ConditionsThe City of Warden has recently made significant improvements to the pedestrian facilities along Industrial Way and County Road and completed improvements this fall on a pathway/sidewalk on the eastern portion of 1st Street. However, a gap in safe, ADA-compliant facilities exists on W. 1st Street (SR 170) between Industrial Way and County Road. This section of road was identified in the Citys Heritage Trail Feasibility Study as a critical component of the Citys pedestrian network. This segment of W. 1st Street is used by many employees that live in Warden and walk to work in the industrial/commercial area of the City. Without safe facilities, pedestrians are forced to walk along the narrow unimproved shoulders without separation from the roadway which is a busy truck route. |
