Project supports various goals and policies in the City of Woodinville 2015 Comprehensive Plan including Goal T-6, Goal T-9, Policy T-6.1. During outreach for the Comp Plan, the list of top desired transportation improvements included sidewalks. This project is also identified in the current Transportation Plan (adopted June 2024). No pedestrian crossing currently exists between NE 165th St and the NE 171st St., requiring pedestrians to cross the road at unmarked crosswalks. There is currently no sidewalk on the east side of the road and intermittent sidewalks on the west side, requiring students to walk adjacent to traffic lanes on a very narrow shoulder or dirt path. This project will complete a gap in the City sidewalk network, provides for a safe walking facility for two nearby schools that identify 124th Ave. NE on their suggested walk route maps and safely connects the adjacent neighborhoods by pedestrian and bicycle routes to nearby parks, bus transit stops and schools.

Project Description
This project will complete a gap in the city sidewalk network, provides for a safe walking facility for two nearby middle and elementary schools that identify 124th Avenue NE on their suggested walk route maps and safely connects the adjacent neighborhoods via walking to nearby parks, bus transit stops, church and schools. Non-compliant sidewalk ramps will be removed and replaced as necessary. This project constructs a new 6 ft wide sidewalk separated from adjacent roadway traffic by a 5 ft wide bike lane. The new sidewalk will match existing sidewalks that currently terminate at NE 171st Street and NE 165th Street. Bike lane will connect to existing unmarked bike lanes on both ends that range from 4.5 to 6 feet wide. A new Rectangular Rapid Flashing Becon (RRFB) will be installed at the intersection of 124th Ave. NE and NE 169th St. to allow neighborhoods east of 124th Ave. NE access to the park west of 124th Ave. NE as requested by the citizens that live in these sub-divisions.
