North Bend adopted a Complete Streets Ordinance to guide the development of future transportation projects. A Complete Streets approach aims for an integrated transportation network that is accessible, safe, and convenient for all users. This includes people of all ages and abilities walking, riding bicycles, driving private motor vehicles, taking transit, or delivering freight. Much needed reduced level of traffic, bicycle and pedestrian use along the corridor. While the City of North Bend has recently implemented traffic and zoning changes to the study area, a complete street plan further promotes the existing small-town feel of the city while also improving safety in multimodal travel and connectivity.

Project Description
This project will reduce the number of travel lanes from four to two, adding a shared use path for pedestrian safety along the east side. Connecting the City's largest park with the downtown historic district.

Project Benefits
- The preferred alternative for Segment 1 reduces the number of travel lanes from four down to two travel lanes. Plantings and a Joint Utility Trench will be included for future removal of overhead lines. By reducing the number of travel lanes this will reduce our maintenance costs and provide a traffic calming measure for safety along this corridor. Given the limited left turns along this segment of roadway, this increases the buffer between the trail and the travel lanes. The wide planted buffer is at a scale to provide stormwater management and further improves the aesthetic qualities of the road with trees. Complete Street elements are reducing roadway lanes, adding a shared use path, increasing pedestrian safety for all users of this corridor.
