Project Description

This is currently a heavily used crosswalk on a City collector. It connects neighborhoods on the east side of 23rd Avenue NE to Stipek Park to the west. There is also a gap in the sidewalk on the west side of 23rd Avenue NE and this crosswalk allows pedestrians to cross to the east side where there is a continuous sidewalk. There is a need to provide pedestrians with better visibility for safety when crossing this collector. Speeds on this collector are typically 10 mph higher than the posted 25 mph speed limit.
