Project Description

The four RRFB locations bundled under this application include 51st Ave SE and 123rd St SE Discovery Elementary Crossing on Meridian Ave Fernwood Elementary at 197th St SW & Jewell Rd and Fernwood Elementary 39th Ave SE Midblock. The addition of RRFBs proposed at the request of community will enhance safety and provide a solution at these crossings. The installation of rectangular rapid flashing beacons at the various locations throughout the County will bring further visibility and awareness of pedestrians crossing which will improve access and usability of pedestrian facilities. Mays Pond ADA Bus Stop Upgrades bundled with this application was identified in the ADA Transition Plan that resulted from the community outreach and engagement. Cross slopes for the Mays Pond Bus Stops do not meet standard and there are currently no alighting areas to allow wheelchair users to board and deboard the buses. This project will improve accessibility to transit and pedestrian access by providing ADA compliant launch pads at bus stops in the Mays Pond area.
