Project Description

The project will re-establish continuous sidewalk on the east and west sides of the street from NE 190th St to the north city limits and include narrowed 10 traveled lanes and designated 5 bike lanes with buffers (where possible) by repurposing existing pavement width currently used for on-street parking and auxiliary right turn lanes. Curb extensions at the intersections of 193rd St, 60th Ave and 197th St are included in the project to reduce pedestrian crossing distance and pedestrian crossing time in conflict with vehicles. Additionally, the existing eastbound to southbound 193rd St right turn slip lane onto 61st Ave has a high crash rate and will be permanently closed with the project the intersection approach will be constructed as a minor stop controlled t-intersection. RRFB crosswalks across 61st Ave at 193rd St, 60th Ave and 200th StStreet will be installed to provide safe pedestrian passage connecting residential areas at these busy intersections. Speed feedback signs approaching 193rd St and 60th Ave will be strategically placed to help slow traffic where pedestrians enter 61st Avenue NE at busy intersections of 193rd St and 60th Ave. The existing pavement, deteriorated with alligator cracking and trench patches will be rehabilitated with a 2 grind and overlay and underlying pavement repair.
