Existing ConditionsThere is currently a 2-1/2 block gap in the sidewalk on the south side of 4th Street between Tonasket Avenue and the K-12 school campus. 4th Street is one of the primary connectors between the residential area on the west side of town, the downtown corridor, and the Tonasket School District campus. The campus includes K-12 schools, tennis courts, the football stadium, baseball/softball fields and track. The City and School District are coordinating to improve bicycle routes for students, residents, and visitors. The existing width of 4th Street provides adequate room to add bike lanes on each side of the road. Additionally, the downtown corridor regularly experiences flooding during large storm events. |
