8th Ave NW was one of 12 projects selected as the highest priority when taking into consideration safety, equity, proximity, and connectivity. The existing informal drainage systems along this corridor negatively impacts neighboring streets while limiting access for non-motorists, creating a barrier for safe travels within the network during periods of heavy rainfall. Non-motorized facilities are absent throughout a majority of the corridor, limiting safe pedestrian access from the North to Sunset School Park.

Project Description
This project construct a new sidewalk and pedestrian buffer along the east side of the 8th Ave NW between NW 180th Street to NW Richmond Beach Road, with a 5-foot amenity zone, and bike lanes in both directions. The City of Shorelines Surface Water utility will scope for a new storm facility to redirect surface water and ensure shoulder flows transition to new gutter lines properly to prevent flooding along 8th Ave and surrounding corridors currently impacted.
