SW Dash Point Road (from 21st Ave SW to SW 312th St) is identified by the Federal Way School District as the recommended safe walking route for students walking to Lakota Middle School. However, there is no sidewalk along this stretch of roadway. Non-motorized users in this area end up walking in the grass along the side of the road. Both Lakota Middle School and Lakota Park, two sources of a high number of non-motorized users, are within the project limits and would be directly served by the construction of a sidewalk in the gap area on SW Dash Point Road.

Project Description
The lack of sidewalk facilities for non-motorized users will be addressed through the construction of an 8' sidewalk, separated from the vehicular traffic by a bicycle lane, curb and gutter, and a 6' planter area. This will provide separation and increased safety for the non-motorized users along this 40 mph roadway corridor.
