The Bethel corridor experiences the largest number of collisions of any City operated and maintained corridor. The highest number of serious injury accidents occurred at or near the Bethel/ Lincoln and Bethel/ Mitchell intersections. The purpose of the project is to address the location with the highest number of serious injury accidents in the City. For additional information refer to the City's Local Agency Roadway Safety Plan. The City received a State City Safety Program Grant to provide a roundabout at the intersection of Bethel Avenue, Lincoln Avenue, and Lunberg Road. The preferred design alternative includes a second roundabout at the intersection of Lincoln and Mitchell.

Project Benefits
- The project provides safety enhancements to address the location with the greatest need in the City of Port Orchard. The project provides enhanced mobility and access in the area and addresses LOS for the forseable future. The proposed intersection improvements not only removes poorly configured intersections that are contributing to a high number of serious injury crashes but also more directly aligns traffic onto Lincoln rather than Mitchell aligning traffic with Lincoln which is the main route connecting Bethel to Mile Hill improving traffic patterns within the City of Port Orchard and adjacent areas of Kitsap County.
