SR 202 is the gateway to the City of Woodinville Central Business District (CBD) including downtown, business and industrial corridors along the east side of the Sammamish Valley. It sees upwards of 40,000 average daily trips and is the primary access from I-405 and SR 522 into the Citys CBD. Removing this longstanding bottleneck and improving traffic circulation will revitalize the downtown core by providing better access to businesses and services in the area. The SR 202 Widening and Trestle Replacement project proposes replacement of the rail trestle with a new pedestrian bridge and widening of SR 202 from NE 175th Street to NE 177th Place. The new pedestrian/bike bridge will allow construction of the Eastrail trail connecting the existing Sammamish River Trail to downtown Woodinville and also to SR 202.

Project Description
This project will remove the existing railroad trestle and the column that currently is located in the median which reduces left turn storage for both NE 175th Street and NE 177th Place. The new bridge will be a ped/bike bridge which will span the entire roadway prism. Removing the trestle will allow widening of SR 202 by adding 3 additional travel lanes to the current 5-lane section. The new roadway section will have at least 3 though northbound lanes, 2 southbound left turn lanes and 1 right-turn only lane southbound at NE 175th Street. Other roadway improvements will include pedestrian walkways, storm drainage, illumination and a gateway treatment to the new ped bridge and surrounding area. Where right-of-way allows a landscape strip will be added between the curb and 5.5 ft sidewalk on the west side and a 10 ft sidewalk/trail with a 4 ft landscape strip on the east side. The new pedestrian bridge will allow construction of the Eastrail Trail connecting the existing Sammamish River Trail to downtown and also to SR 202. The 10 ft sidewalk will be used as a trail that will connect bicyclists to the existing bike lanes on NE 175th Street and eventually north to the City of Bothell. The gas station located on the NE corner of SR 202 and NE 175th Street is redeveloping their site and will be required to install a 5 ft bike lane on NE 175th Street. This project is the stepping stone for future improvements to the SR202/SR522 interchange that will greatly reduce congestion on SR202.
