E. 64th St is an east-west 2-lane arterial in southeast Tacoma which connects residential neighborhoods to commercial corridors and presents a significant safety, equity, and connectivity gap in Tacoma’s transportation network. Phase 1 of the E 64th St project built Tacoma’s first cycle track, complete sidewalks, safer intersections, and a new roadway surface - connecting to Bus Rapid Transit and the future A Street bike boulevard and linking residents to businesses, schools and community destinations. East of McKinley Avenue to Portland Avenue (the subject of this grant), existing conditions deteriorate sharply. See continuation on attached Appendix A, section 'Identify the Community’s Need'.

Project Description
This project will construct improvements of E 64th Street between Portland Ave and McKinley Avenue. This phase would extend improvements completed under Phase 1. This project will reconstruct the arterial to current safety and accessibility standards including the replacement of failing sufacing and subbase.
