The intersection of 244th Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue is in need of improvements to increase safety, traffic capacity, and provide future pedestrian connectivity. Currently the intersection is experiencing a failing level of service. High volumes of traffic on 244th Avenue leave little opportunity for turn movements from Roosevelt Avenue causing excessive traffic queues and often leads to drivers making risky turn movements. This project would benefit the community by increasing safety and functionality of the intersection as well as providing future pedestrian connectivity.

Project Description
An intersection control evaluation study was performed during preliminary stages of this project to determine the best solution to meet the needs of the intersection. This evaluation looked at widening, installing a signal, and construction of a roundabout as potential solutions. The study determined that the widening option would only provide short term benefits and is not a sustainable option. Signal installation was determined to be potential solution, however, not the best solution. The best solution was determined to be single lane roundabout. A single lane roundabout will be the safest, most efficient, and sustainable improvement for this intersection.
