The project improves safety and mobility for people walking and biking within SeaTac City Center (a designated PSRC Regional Center), including connections to Sound Transit light rail station, RapidRide A Line, bus stops, and SeaTac Airport. The project supports creating a walkable and bikeable neighborhood for residents, employees, visitors, and improves access to the Airport. Safety is an important focus, particularly for non-motorized users. Review of 5 years of collision data found 11 vehicle pedestrian/bicycle collisions. Pedestrian activity is very high, with 185 hourly pedestrian crossings at the S 176th St/International Blvd intersection. There are no bicycle facilities on the 4 street segments. 2 segments lack sidewalks. 2 have substandard sidewalks that place pedestrians next to moving vehicles. On the north segment of 32nd Ave S, pedestrians must walk on the roadway. On S 180th St, only a painted stripe is used to delineate a pedestrian walkway.

Project Description
The project constructs safety and mobility improvements for people walking, biking, and using transit around SeaTac/Airport light rail station. The project improves 4 street segments and 2 intersections. S 176th St (International Blvd - 32nd Ave S) improve north side of street to add two-way cycle track, planter strip buffer, and buffered 8ft sidewalk to access the non-motorized bridge to rail station and Airport and RapidRide bus stops at the north leg of International Blvd intersection. 32nd Ave S (S 170th St S 176th St) Add buffered 6ft sidewalks, landscaped planters, parking stalls, sharrow markings to create a bicycle blvd with traffic calming including narrowed vehicle lanes, raised intersections, and speed humps. 32nd Ave S (S 176th St S 180th St) Improve east side of street to add northbound bike lane, parking stalls, planter strip, and 8ft sidewalk. Add southbound bike lane from S 176th St to S 177th St, and southbound bike sharrow to S 180th St. S 180th St (east of 32nd Ave S) Add eastbound bike lane, planter strip buffer, and 8ft sidewalk on north side of the street. Add westbound bike sharrow to vehicle lane. S 176th St/International Blvd intersection bring all curb ramps to ADA compliance. Revise signal phasing to reduce vehicle pedestrian conflicts. S 176th St/32nd Ave S intersection Remove eastbound right turn lane to shorten west leg crossing distance. Add bike boxes, and signal safety improvements. Each segment includes new vehicle and pedestrian lighting.
