Project Description

This project widens Auburn Way S (SR 164) from Hemlock Street to Poplar Street SE to provide a five-lane section with a center turn lane/median.The project also implements specific improvements improving the safety of school bus stops adding sidewalks to accommodate non-motorized travel, installing access control to improve safety and operations, and improving transit facilities. A pedestrian crossing, enhanced with an RRFB is proposed at the east end of the improvements after the transition back to the existing three-lane section to provide pedestrian circulation and access to transit. The project will also realign Poplar St SE to the west of the existing intersection with SR 164 to provide adequate sight distance at the intersection.
