Main Street is approximately 60-feet wide, with curb, gutter and 10-foot wide sidewalks on both sides. The roadway is striped for two wide travel lanes, withangle and parallel parking. The existing intersection at Washington Avenue is skewed, with crosswalk locations that are away from the intersection, in unexpected locations. The asphalt roadway is in marginal condition, with large transverse cracks, and some small areas of alligator cracking. The existing sidewalks are in poor condition with spalling, and numerous uneven joints that present tripping hazards. The existing curb ramps and driveways are not ADA compliant. The existing storm drainage system does not function well and often leads to ponding during even small rain and snow-melt events.

Project Description
The proposed improvements will reconstruct the existing roadway and sidewalk. The project will realign the intersection at Washington Avenue and Main Street, add additional illumination, revise storm drainage collection, install a pedestrian crossing, and improve the intersection of Main Street and SR 22.The Main Street project has been selected and programed to receive STBG funds from the YVCOG RTPO. The City obligated PE phase funds in 2013 and was programmed to receive CN phase funds in 2023.The City had originally planned to use the TIB federal match program for the project, however the program has significantly changed since the City received the original commitment for the STBG funds. The project is currently programmed to receive CN Phase funds in Federal Fiscal Year 2022 (beginning October, 2021).The City has been told that funds may become available in 2021, meaning the project may be eligible for construction funding 1year early depending upon other projects within the RTPO
