Existing Conditions

French Lane is currently a severely offset roadway extending from the intersection of South Camas Avenue and 9th Street. This intersection is extremely busy during school rush hours and will see more traffic once French Lane is improved. The project will realign the intersection to promote a safe extension of 9th Street. Department of Commerce CDBG funds and Catholic Charities Housing Services funds in the amount of $1,033,000 have been secured for the roadway, water, and sewer improvements. These funds will be used to complete the roadway extension to the east end of the road and to install a water main and sewer main. The proposed intersection improvements are needed to provide a safe connection to South Camas Avenue and 9th Street for both vehicles and pedestrians. The intersection improvements will connect to the recently constructed safe routes to school project on 9th Street and roadway improvements on South Camas Avenue and 9th Street and will directly serve the City Park and Pool. The intersection also serves the City's Public Works Shop.
