Existing ConditionsThis section of Springwater is currently in poor condition. It lacks pedestrian and bicycle facilities. It also lacks consistent illumination and stormwater facilities. Commercial development in the City of Wenatchee continues to expand, however, due to local topography, new single-family residential development within the city is primarily confined to the area west of Western Avenue in the Wenatchee foothills. Two residential developments are currently being designed for the area, with a third in the feasibility stage. This stretch of Springwater Avenue connects the Wenatchee foothills to the primary shopping center in Wenatchee which is less than a mile east of Western Avenue. The section of Springwater east of Western Ave is fully developed with curb, gutter, sidewalk, and illumination. |

This project will install sidewalks and bicycle lanes along Springwater Avenue to connect with the existing sidewalks on the east side of Western Avenue. It will allow continuous pedestrian access between the Wenatchee foothills and the Valley North shopping center. Additionally, an illumination system will be installed to provide continuous lighting throughout the corridor, and storm sewer facilities will be constructed. The existing roadway structure will be removed and reconstructed with deeper, more durable HMA which will accommodate recent and future development in the Wenatchee foothills.
