Existing ConditionsPt Brown is the only route into Ocean Shores from SR 115 and is travelled by many tourists and vacationers. The Pt Brown corridor has a mix of commercial businesses and shops that are frequented by tourists throughout the year. The lack of pedestrian facilities and designated crossings along the corridor results in pedestrians crossing Pt Brown at random locations based on their destination. The businesses along the corridor provide visitors with numerous stores and shops to visit, but it also creates a lot of distractions for unfamiliar tourists. The pedestrian activity along Pt Brown between Chance a La Mer and Shoal St is high during the tourist season. There have been many near misses as pedestrians are crossing at random locations while unfamiliar drivers are traveling along the corridor looking for their destination. The community and business owners along Pt Brown have identified the need for a pedestrian crossing between Chance a La Mer and Shoal St. |
