Existing Conditions

McBryde Avenue is a primary pedestrian corridor for the north side of the City. This corridor has pedestrian facilities west of Church Street to link the northwest side of town to the High School, but has no facilities or inadequate facilities to serve the northeast areas of the City. The existing road corridor west of Church Street is very narrow with 10asphalt lanes and limited shoulder width in many locations. It is very common to encounter pedestrians walking in the narrow roadway. The City of Montesano is a very active community. In addition to the need for safe pedestrian facilities to serve the high school, many residents use McBryde Avenue regularly as a walking corridor throughout the day.
