Existing ConditionsE. Wynooche Avenue is a vital link for commercial traffic and School District use and a much needed alternate route for residents to access the east side of town. The street serves several business, the School District bus barn and a commercial logging company. The street is badly deteriorated and has numerous pedestrian safety issues at the intersection of Sylvia and E. Wynooche. The City spends a significant amount of time and resources on patching this section of roadway. There is also an old asbestos cement water line in this street section that needs to be replaced. The intersection of Sylvia and Wynooche is unsafe and needs additional control (4-way stop), pedestrian safety improvements and ADA improvements. |

The proposed solution is to upgrade the pedestrian facilities at the intersection and along the south side of the street and repair the street surface using Full Depth Reclamation (FDR). Pedestrian and traffic safety enhancements (4-way stop, crosswalks, bulb outs) will be implement at the intersection of Sylvia and Wynooche. Maintenance costs will be greatly reduce. The asbestos cement water main will be replaced by the City during the project with City funding under a separate bid schedule.
