Existing Conditions

West Maple Street is a residential street adjacent to McClearys commercial and central business district, directly to the south. In addition to the single family residences on this street, a memory care and assisted living facility with approximately 75 residents is situated at the end of the planned sidewalk improvement, at S 6th and W Maple. The pedestrians walking between 6th and 5th street are forced to walk in the street on West Maple St, as there is no sidewalk on this block. The existing sidewalk between S 5th St and S Main St is noncontiguous, is cracked in multiple locations and does not include ADA compliant ramps. In addition, water ponds on the sidewalk in multiple locations along the project alignment.
