Existing Conditions

There are several marked crosswalks on arterials in the Town of Steilacoom that are at uncontrolled locations with significant pedestrian use. Though drivers are required to stop at crosswalks when pedestrians are present to cross them, drivers are not as compliant as when RRFBs are present. During peak traffic times, the gap for pedestrian crossing drops as low as 10%.

Description of Improvements

This project will install 3 Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon systems at the following locations: Steilacoom Boulevard @ Byrd Drive Union Avenue @ Sequalish Street Puyallup Street/Steilacoom Blvd @ Starling Street
