Project Description

A new curb, gutter, sidewalk, and planter strip along the west side of 18th Ave W between 151st St SW and Jefferson Way will be constructed, eliminating a critical sidewalk gap. ADA-compliant curb ramps will be added at the southwest corner of the Jefferson Way and 18th Ave W intersection. The new sidewalk will provide a continuous, safe, and separated pedestrian route connecting Oak Heights Elementary to residential neighborhoods, directly addressing safety and accessibility concerns. Drainage improvements will be incorporated by installing catch basins to collect runoff and route it into the existing drainage network, preventing water pooling and slippery conditions. The planter strip will support low-impact development and climate-appropriate landscaping. Pedestrians will cross the street to connect to existing sidewalk. Approximately 500 feet of sidewalk exists on each side. These improvements will enhance connectivity, safety, and accessibility for all pedestrians.
