Pedestrians in McCleary are generally forced to walk along unfinished roadsides or in the roadway itself to reach destinations throughout the city, which introduces obvious pedestrian safety concerns and creates barriers to pedestrian mobility. This is a significant issue for The Beehive, a retirement community on 6th Street. Many residents have mobility impairments and require ADA improvements to access businesses and city services.

Project Description
Concrete sidewalks will be built on the west side of S 6th Street from W Simpson Avenue to W Maple Street and from W Fir Street to W Pine Street with planter strip, curb, gutter, and parking lanes.
Existing Condition
Project Benefits
- The 6th Street Sidewalk project is predominantly a pedestrian project, extending accessible pedestrian routes in residential McCleary that are otherwise only navigable by vehicle. The locations selected are intended to contribute to the creation of a comprehensive pedestrian network in McCleary.
