The west side of 72nd Ave NW and north side of 272nd St NW lack sidewalks, forcing pedestriansincluding students, seniors, and families to walk on road shoulders, creating safety risks and limiting mobility. This project will construct continuous sidewalks connecting to existing Stanwood High School walkways, closing a critical gap in the pedestrian network. The new route will link single-family and multifamily neighborhoods, senior housing, and child care facilities to the high school, ensuring safe, accessible travel for residents of all ages and abilities. By improving connectivity, the project will reduce pedestrian-vehicle conflicts, support active transportation, and enhance equitable access to educational and community resources.

Project Description
The project includes curb and gutter installation, driveway adjustments, planter strip, and necessary drainage improvements.
Existing Condition
Project Benefits
- This project will construct ADA-accessible sidewalks along the west side of 72nd Avenue NW and the north side of 272nd Street NW, closing a critical gap in the pedestrian network. Currently, residents including students, seniors, and families must walk on unpaved shoulders, creating unsafe conditions and limiting mobility. The project will add continuous, safe, and accessible pedestrian corridor that connects residential neighborhoods, senior housing, and child care facilities to Stanwood High School and existing sidewalks. Incorporating Complete Streets principles, the project will create infrastructure that serves all users, regardless of age or ability, by adding pedestrian facilities that improve safety, encourage walking, and support multimodal connections. Features include ADA-compliant ramps, improved crossings, curb and gutter installation, and drainage enhancements, ensuring the corridor is safe, functional, and accessible year round.
