All sidewalks should provide full accessibility for users of all disabilities. On all arterials / collectors in the Edmonds sidewalk network, the only remaining corners with limited accessibility and 6-inch curbs are the following locations-3rd Ave. N (Principal Arterial) Giltner St. mid-block crossing with 6 inch curb on both sides of the street and (1) non-compliant curb ramp-76th Ave W (Minor Arterial) 236th St. SW all (4) intersection corners with 6 inch curb-Bowdoin Way (Collector) from 96th Ave. W to 84th Ave. W6-inch curb at (10) corners and (6) non-compliant curb ramps. All these upgrades are high priority locations based on our ADA Transition Plan. Those conditions restrict active transportation users from using those facilities. They are then forced to drive to reach their destinations (if possible) or placed under unsafe condition into the roadway (parking lanes, bike lanes, or travel lanes) along stretches with 85th percentile speed of 35 mph and high ADTs.

Project Description
Addition of ADA fully compliant curb ramps at16 along Bowdoin Way from 96th to 84th (both sides street),4 at 76th 236th (all corners),and 3 at 3rd Giltner mid-block crossing (including bulb-outs)
Existing Condition
Project Benefits
- The removal of 6-inch curb and the conversion to fully ADA-compliant curb ramps at (22) locations along arterial and collector streets will make all locations fully accessible to all active transportation users. Those users will include pedestrians with disabilities as well as less experienced bike riders (kids, elderly, and families). Those improvements will encourage/enable individuals of all abilities to use the existing sidewalk since it will be easily accessible and safer.Bowdoin Way is classified as a collector street with sidewalks on both sides of the street. Along this stretch with ADT of 6,000 vehicles per day (vpd), users will be provided with a safer connection from their residential unit to Yost Park (Regional Park with swimming pool and other amenities), Five Corners (212th St. SW @ 84th Ave. W) commercial intersection, and other destinations within proximity. This 3/4 mile stretch has 6-inch vertical curb at (10) corner and (6) non-ADA compliant curb ramps.Individuals with disabilities encounter numerous access issues.76th Ave. W is classified as a minor arterial with an ADT of 8,000 vpd. The conversion of all four corners of 76th Ave. W @ 236th St. SW will enable individuals with disabilities to stay within the sidewalk along 76th Ave. W or reach less busy cross streets.3rd Ave. S is a principal arterial with an ADT of 9,000 vpd. Individuals will be provided with a safer crossing to get across SR-524 to access Sunset Ave. (stretch with views of Puget Sound).
