The City Center Greenway will connect the Poverty Bay Trail to the north and existing multimodal infrastructure in the City Center to the south. The Poverty Bay Trail connects to Federal Way High School and is planned to connect north to Des Moines and the regional growth center in SeaTac. There are existing multimodal connections to the south including connections to the Downtown Federal Way Station and regional growth center. The proximity to these destinations unlocks more community destinations and access to opportunity to all members of the community. Completing this missing link builds off existing multimodal infrastructure and helps further our communitys goals of access, connectivity, equity, and connecting transit and community destinations. As a practical, feasible opportunity to complete a missing link and extend improvements, this route is identified as a Key Internal Connection in the SW King County Trails Plan and is identified in the Citys TIP.

Project Benefits
- The project involves providing a multimodal solution to complete a missing link. The solution would include complete streets elements for all, including those biking, walking, rolling, and utilizing transit, especially because the project connects to existing multimodal improvements with access to the Downtown Federal Way Station. Planned improvements include providing lighting and drainage improvements and a sidewalk/path on the north side of S 308 Street. 20 Avenue S include utilizing the existing pavement to provide a bike boulevard, advisory bike lanes, shared-use path, or similar concept to improve the experience and provide more comfort to multimodal users. The City plans to further conceptual design and community engagement to arrive at the solution that would best meet the communitys need for a multimodal connection and improved non-motorized experience.
