7th Street is a vital north-south corridor in Brewster, serving all three schools, park facilities, boat launch, RV park, and the local Boys and Girls Club. It also supports heavy seasonal traffic during peak fishing and agricultural periods and is a primary industrial access route into the wastewater treatment facility and concrete plant. The diversity of uses necessitates improvements in multi-modal infrastructure. To ensure safety, especially for students and recreational users, walking or biking, improvements are needed, including new bike lanes along the entire corridor, new sidewalk connections with strategic street crossings, and rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFB). These upgrades will protect families and school children from elementary through high school who travel this busy route daily. With an average PCI of 62, this segment is well-suited for accompanying chip sealing and targeted extensive rehabilitation to extend pavement life and avoid extensive reconstruction.
