S. Royle Road, south of S. 19th St., is a 20-foot-wide minor arterial that is the only north-south corridor in the City of Ridgefield. Despite its importance, it is currently in very poor condition. It connects many residents to the city's only high school, its only middle school, and the Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex. It also connects a significant portion of the city's residents to Ridgefield's only supermarket and the city's main commercial node. This critical segment of Royle Road currently lacks sidewalks on both sides, which forces residents, many of whom are K-12 students, to walk in the roadside ditch to nearby schools and the community sports complex.

Project Description
This proposed phase will complete the sidewalks from the Royle View and Royle Terrace neighborhoods to Ridgefield High School, while also completing the connection to the shared use path along the north side of Hillhurst. Additionally, there is currently no stormwater infrastructure along the roadway. The proposed utility improvements include waterline extension, stormwater conveyance, stormwater quality and quantity control, and the undergrounding of overhead utilities. The stormwater will be collected and conveyed to an underground treatment vault, detained with an underground pipe, and discharged to meet flow control requirements. This project will significantly improve physical road conditions and safety in Ridgefield.
