N Market Blvd serves as the spine of the commercial core of Historic Downtown Chehalis. Currently the streets contain irregular intersections, traffic pinch points when the railway is being used, unsafe street conditions for pedestrians, lack of ADA compliant sidewalks, and wide streets with angled parking in need of traffic calming measures. In addition to the flawed design layouts, the conditions of the roads, sidewalks, storm management system, and 99-year-old water lines, are long overdue for updates. A Comprehensive Master Plan done by the city in 2023 highlights the need for improvements, as well as proposed strategies. This included input and priorities identified by community members, business owners, city administration, and elect officials serving the affected areas.
