W Powerhouse road has rapidly degraded, receiving pavement ratings from poor to very poor (ASTM PCI 34-40). Much of the existing pavement has alligator cracking, suggesting the necessity of a complete reconstruction. Rear-end vehicle collisions, water pooling in the traveled way, congestion and inconsistent traffic flow rates along W Powerhouse Road are a result of inadequate lane widths, turn radii, spacing between intersections and no roadside water retention facilities. Also, the roadway lacks any sort of pedestrian, bicycle or transit facilities leading to vehicle slow downs or unpredictable driver reactions to other roadway users.

Project Description
Reconstruction of W. Powerhouse Road that will result in two 11-foot travel lanes, two paved 5-foot bicycle lanes, concrete curbing, roadside illumination and drainage catch basins. Each of the two impacted intersections, Ackley Road and Naches Heights Road will be modified from minor stop controlled intersections to roundabouts.
