Project Description

This project will include important safety improvements for the 88th corridor between State Avenue and 55th Avenue NE. We will replace intermittent shoulders with an 11 ft wide shared use path on each side of the corridor. We will install a new signal at 51st, along with ADA improvements, and improved pedestrian crossings at other intersections. This will provide important connectivity for pedestrians walking or biking to school, as well as others in the community. We will replace the existing 2-lane roadway with a three lane roadway with a two-way left turn lane. Stormwater management for new impervious areas will include bio-retention cells which will collect, treat, and infiltrate storm water. These facilities will be located between the curb and the shared-use path, also creating a buffer from vehicular traffic. The corridor will also include street lighting, utility upgrades and restoration of the paved surface.
