This segment of Bothell Way NE is a heavily congested two-lane roadway with minimal shoulders and a history of frequent accidents. It lacks continuous sidewalks, protected bike lanes, and transit facilities. The current average daily traffic (ADT) is 34,972 vehicles with a Level of Service (LOS) D, and its projected to reach 36,400 vehicles with LOS F by 2040.The project will improve mobility and safety by optimizing lane configurations and adding smart infrastructure. A protected two-way bike lane will give cyclists a dedicated and safe path, while expanded sidewalks will enhance accessibility for all, including those with disabilities. Landscape planters will serve as buffers between pedestrians and traffic, and new lighting will improve nighttime visibility.Swift Green Line transit platforms will enhance access to public transportation, encourage multimodal travel, and help to reduce congestion. In summary, this project addresses safety and capacity concerns while promoting a more functional, inclusive, and sustainable corridor that better serves drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and transit users.
