Investing in Your Community
The Washington State Legislature created the Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) to foster state investment in quality local transportation projects.
TIB is an independent state agency that distributes and manages street construction and maintenance grants to 320 cities and urban counties throughout Washington State.
The funding for TIB's grant programs come from revenue generated by three cents of the statewide gas tax.
TIB manages its programs according to four core values:
  • Improve and Innovate;
  • Manage projects to ribbon cutting;
  • Dollars in the ground, not in the bank;
  • Catalyst for project completion.
