Existing ConditionsThe City of Ridgefield experienced an 18.3 percent population increase between 2020 and 2021, making it the fastest growing cities in Washington. To accommodate this growth and keep traffic moving safely and efficiently, the City has been planning to improve key north-south and east-west corridors. Royle Road is the only north-south route for residents of South Ridgefield to access Interstate 5. Close to 1,000 single family homes have or will be built along this corridor. In addition, Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex and Ridgefield's First grocery store were recently completed and both of these facilities are of or in close proximity to Royle Road. The current facility on S. Royle Road is inadequate to the needs of the growing community. The existing roadway width of 20' does not support the community multimodal demands to safely accommodate vehicular traffic with bicycle and pedestrian users. |

The project will provide enhanced stormwater management, increase sight distance, and expand multimodal transportation, with bicycle lanes, a sidewalk, and connecting pedestrians, to services to the north, thereby benefiting the community of Ridgefield. In addition, the proposed project will provide an additional water line to improve flow and system reliability.
