Existing Conditions

Wine Country Road(WCR) and McCreadie Road is one of the two entrance and exit routes to the City of Grandview from I-82. Located at Exit 75 of I-82, it is 2.4 miles from the only other ramp at Exit 73. Major freight traffic is constant, serving businesses and outlying communities beyond the City. The commercial district at the east end of the City (approximately 1,000' west of the intersection) has progressively developed, increasing the traffic and congestion at this intersection. There are several other large parcels of undeveloped, industrial and commercial zoned land adjacent to WCR near the intersection. As these areas further develop, it will be an increased strain on the this intersection. McCreadie Road is the stop controlled leg of the intersection, and with the amount of traffic on these roadways, it is difficult for trucks to turn onto WCR. This causes challenges for pedestrians and cyclists, and also backs up traffic to the WSDOT exit ramp.

Description of Improvements

The project will reconstruct the Wine Country Road and McCreadie Road intersection into a roundabout. The project includes a two-lane urban section with curb and gutter, 10’ shared use pathway, regional pathway connection, handicap ramps, storm drainage facilities, and illumination system. A roundabout would eliminate the current left turn movement problem of the current roadway configuration.
