Traffic volumes, as well as pedestrian and bicycle activity, have been increasing at this intersection due to continued growth of residential housing units in the surrounding area. There are also several large residential and commercial projects in this area that are currently in various stages of design and/or construction, which will add additional traffic volume to this intersection, and increase vehicle delays. In addition, this intersection has been identified as a high-accident location, indicating a need for intersection improvements. |

A single-lane urban roundabout is the selected treatment for this intersection. A roundabout will increase capacity and reduce vehicle delays at this intersection, which will result in an improved level of service. The roundabout will continue to function at a high-level in the future as development and growth continue in this area. The roundabout will be designed to increase safety at the intersection and reduce crashes, while also providing better accomodations for pedestrian and bicycle activity by incorporating safer crossings.
