Existing Conditions

South 240th St is a critical pedestrian corridor. To the south is the Plaza by the Green shopping center (4 restaurants/4 stores/1 daycare/1 bank/1 training center/1 staffing agency/1 non-profit/4 offices/1 laundromat/1 motel), Hogan Park, Riverbend Golf Complex, high-density housing (Riverwood Apartments/Ethos Apartments/Midtown 64 Apartments), low-income housing (Red Carpet Apartments/Shafrans Mobile Estates), and Metro Route 183; and to the north and east is high-density housing (Waters Edge Apartments/Atrium on James Apartments), Metro Routes 150 and 165, recreational/community assets (Community Garden, Puget Power Trail, and Neely-O-Brien Elementary School). The project is included on the Neely-OBrien school walking route and a link to Meeker Street, a multimodal, economic corridor connecting to Downtown.

Description of Improvements

This will will complete the gap in the sidewalk along S 240th Street that serves as a major pedestrian network connector for the Green River Trail, multiple neighborhoods, apartments and has frequent transit service. Constructs new curb, gutter and concrete sidewalk.
