Existing Conditions

This project infills multiple gaps in sidewalk, replaces ADA non-compliant curb ramps, constructs new ADA curb ramps where missing, adds curb extensions at strategic locations to reduce crossing distance and reduce traffic speeds, re-stripes shoulders, adds signage and bike symbols to provide designated bike lanes, and extends the pedestrian transportation network on Linwood Avenue. Sidewalk infill gaps are located on Linwood Avenue, 6th Avenue, and 7th Avenue. The project also includes the addition of a marked crossing in the vicinity of a transit stop. Safety is improved by building sidewalk and ramps removing pedestrians from the roadway and improves safety for students walking to Michael T Simmons Elementary School, which has an active Walk and Roll program to reduce bus trips. Vehicular, bicyclist and pedestrian mobility will improve, while significantly enhancing safety for all transportation modes.
