Existing Conditions

The parcel at 11635 NE 8th Street is missing approximately 150 feet of even, ADA grade accessible sidewalk on the south side NE 8th Street, an 8-lane arterial roadway. Pedestrian commuters and travelers must cross this gap to access downtown Bellevue, transit, medical facilities, local destinations, the Wilburton station of the new Sound Transit East Link light rail line (open 2023), and the grade separated Eastrail Regional Trail crossing of NE 8th Street (currently under construction immediately to the east (also open 2023). Pedestrians experience an unmarked and uneven surface that is periodically blocked by light standards when traveling on the south side of the street between 116th and 120th Avenues NE. Also, pedestrians are not easily visible to vehicles entering and exiting the retail parking lot housed on this parcel.
