Existing Conditions

Medical Lake experiences pedestrians frequenting Hallett and Grace Streets traveling to and from the Post Office, Library, Downtown Area, and Elementary School. Hallett is heavily traveled due to the Elementary School and though the children frequent the No Vehicle Parking lane (mostly the road in the winter time), it is outside of the school zone and traffic frequently speeds along the route. Grace St. does not have sidewalks connecting to Hallett or Broad, but has them in the middle of the roads. With heavy pedestrian traffic from the downtown area to the Post Office/Library, the road is the only place for pedestrians to walk, and the road is quite narrow. This project connects the East/West of Grace to its termini and Hallett connects the sidewalk from the Elementary School North to Lake St. The No Vehicle Parking Lane essentially acts as a bike lane. Description of Improvements

This project proposes 5 foot sidewalks and curbing along Hallett with pavement repair to the face of curb along with 5 foot sidewalks and curb along the missing portions of Grace St. with a graveled shoulder to face of curb. This will increase safety and mobility for pedestrians between the Schools, Post Office, Library, Transit Bus Stops, Downtown Area, and Churches as well as complete the connectivity along Grace Street and between Lake Street Campbell Street.
