Region: East | Legislative District: 13 | Length: 0.55 mi. | FY 2023 Small City Arterial Program (SCAP) |
Existing Conditions8th Street and Selkirk Avenue (south of 4th Street) serve the densely populated southern portion of the City, including the Chausee Mobile Home Court and Cox Addition neighborhoods, as well as Our Lady of the Desert Church. These streets both have a PCR score under 21, indicating a need for reconstruction. Because of the poor condition of these streets, it is difficult for residents to use the corridor along 8th Street and Selkirk Avenue. As the City continues to grow to the south, the central location of Selkirk and the location of 8th makes these streets the most likely to serve as arterials. |

The proposed roadway improvements will pulverize the existing roadway to construct a suitable roadway base, prelevel the roadway with crushed surfacing material, and repave the roadway. 11-foot travel lanes will be established. The proposed roadway improvements will eliminate the gap of roadways in acceptable conditions for residents using the corridor along 8th Street and Selkirk Avenue, from the south end of Portage Ave to 4th St.
