Existing ConditionsThe project extends access from the Central Business District on Main Ave to the Citys West Beach Park, the proposed Smokiam Trail, and Soap Lake. The deteriorated condition of the roadway and sidewalk in the area does not provide vehicles and pedestrians with safe access to the park, lake, and proposed trail. These facilities are used by many community residents and visitors. As a tourism based community, the safety and aesthetics of the site lack the inviting beauty that the City strives for along park/lake access arterial. |

The City has obtained TIB Complete Streets funding to construct sidewalk in this area. The funding requested by this application will supplement the Complete Streets funding and allow the City to completely rehabilitate the roadway. The proposed project will establish 10-foot travel lanes with rolled curb gutter on both sides of the road. Deteriorated sidewalk and non-compliant curb ramps will be replaced. The funding requested by this application includes the rehabilitation and narrowing of the roadway by pulverizing the full width of the road, cement-treating the proposed travel lanes, paving new asphalt travel lanes, and establishing gravel parking.
