Existing Conditions

The street is located in Leavenworth's downtown core with many retail and industrial businesses taking access off of it. 14th Street also provides access for the Town recycling center. Additionally, the existing curb, gutter, and sidewalk is chipped and falling apart. The City needs this project because this corridor is a vital route for tourism and for the residents of Leavenworth.

Summary of Improvements

  • 14th Street generates the most citizen complaints of any street in Leavenworth. The community would not only benefit from having a street designed for heavier traffic to the recycling center and City Shop, but also the businesses in the area that thrive on tourism would have a safe and appealing pedestrian sidewalk that would likely generate more business.

Description of Improvements

The solution is to completely rebuild 14th Street including curb, gutter, and sidewalk with full depth reclamation and possibly cement treated base depending on the underlying soils.
