Existing ConditionsAs our community shifts from a region reliant upon logging, to a tourism based community, improvements to our downtown corridor are needed to enhance the welcoming feeling and the vibrance that our residents and business owners strive to project to our visitors. This particular street is the main corridor that brings our cruise ship passengers to our many restaurants and stores located in our downtown. This street is also the main route to our waterfront area, industrial business park, and recreation area. |

By rebuilding and adding enhancements to this street, it will provide a welcoming feeling to visitors to encourage them to stay and frequent our many businesses. Wider sidewalks will allow for the safe migration of pedestrians from the cruiseships to our downtown, and allow for pedestrians to visit our waterfront from our downtown. The conversion to ADA compliant sidewalks will accomodate the elderly and disabled population to traverse our sidewalks easier. We will also be adding wayfinding pavers to the new sidewalks to aid pedestrians in their navigation of our city. The addition of decorative street lights will tie this area into our main street, making a more cohesive environment for the walking, and driving, tourist.
